Lately I've been gassing over anything Entwistle-related, namely Explorers, NR Thunderbirds and, of course, Fenderbirds. I was simply wondering if you knew any of those basses that could be bought for around the price of a MIA Fender (Sadly, no Lulls for me :crying:). I don't especially mind if its imported or not, it can be made anywhere, as long as it is not an illegal phony... Basically, I don't mind about the name on the headstock. It would be especially nice if you had experience with the bass in question. I do want one for the looks, but if its unplayable... well...

So, will the TB community enlighten me with its knowledge? :D

They don't seem to offer it currently, but you might contact them and see if they intend to in the future, or if they're willing to make a one-off and not charge an arm and a leg for it. Or ask TBer @Basvarken, he's a dealer for them in the Netherlands.

Also, no idea as to how much Cataldo Basses go for, but you might wanna check them out anyway.

I've got 2 of the Rick copies myself.
The first was second hand from the Facebook page.
I thought I'd get one direct from B&CH Invalid Link Removed to see what the experience of buying from the website would be: couldn't fault it.
Funny thing, I was looking at their website last night and thinking about asking them about a Precision P/J fretless build.
And both my B&CH basses always get a "that sounds comment".
I did change the bridges on them, they came with pants bridges. Different ones on the other basses though.

I just bought a new bass but sure wouldn't mind owning this one.

Ass far As I am concerned Thunderbuckers are the best reproduction on the market. I have been playing NRS almost exclusively since '77 and have 6 60s NR Thunderbirds. I also own three Bach NRs.

I really can't say enough about Cataldo basses. Both my NR and JAEBIRD are worth every penny and then some. Thunderbuckers come in several versions I like the hot 66 myself super high output lots of mids and treble zing with inherent overdrive.

Very easy, the BaCH 'Birds were the end result of a lot of work by the aforementioned Basvarken (Rob) and some input from various members of the Last Bass Outpost forum. Originally they were relatively inexpensive and lent themselves to being upgraded readily and with a little work could be beautiful, reasonable repro's of the Gibson.

Here's a Bach decked out with Gibson parts done by TBer Chromium

Looks like a great replica of John's Fenderbird. The only question I have is about the neck. Wasn't John's original neck a maple cap neck taken from his 66 slab P-Bass? In the picture below, you can see the absence of the walnut plug on the neck, denoting a maple cap neck rather than a solid maple neck.
