Here is a sound sample I made with my cel phone of my 1950 DiLeone Giacovino today. Before I had the work done it was really high action and not very resonant. Feels pretty good now.

Thanks Troy. I couldn’t play it before Barrie fixed it. He could of sold me a bass easily the day I brought it in. He told me to have it fixed because he thought I would like it. He was right.

Thanks Louis. He had to find a new manufacturer recently. They are temporarily discontinued. I am not sure which strings I have. The Varicor or the Heritage? What color are the silks on the tail end of your strings?

Heritage are that color purple on the bottom.... I believe the Varicores are yellow.

I played on a set of Heritage strings for years. I liked them and can't honestly remember why I switched to something else. Just curiosity, I'm sure. They're a bit like Dominants crossed with Obligatos - kinda, sorta. Sorry, I know I'm probably not helping here

Curiously, I was just on Upton's FB site, and they had a photo of a scroll w/ hatpegs which they said was a Louis DiLeone restoration in progress. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is the bass on their site.

They call it a DiLeone, and it has a 2012 sticker, but it was a restoration of a 1920s-30s Czech.

That’s a restoration Lou just completed. Check out this one his father Frank DiLeone made with wood that was the last Frank was able to get out of Germany before WW2. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
