Keep looking. If asked just say you were trying to figure out the meaning.I am in an airport. Nothing new. But I am sitting across from a woman whose shirt says COFFIN FLOP. That is a can't miss band name.

Keep in mind that Gibson basses have flaws as well. Les Paul's likely perfect every time! You echo my situation entirely...
On the neck grit progression was driven by the instructions on the StewMac polishing compounds - first time using them. On previous projects I used car-finishing supplies I already had.
So progression this time, all by hand, was:
800 grit to level
1000
2000
Medium compound
Fine compound
...to these results.
Last step would be "swirl remover" ultra-fine compound.
I will try another pass with medium, but I suspect it will take 3000 or 2000 to clear those spider scratches via hand finishing. They would ultimately buff out, if I was using a power buffer.
This bass will have a couple minor finish flaws when done. I want that number as low as I can get it without having to start over. Just for my own satisfaction.
I get it. To listen to one chord things on the radidio is boring. To play a one chord thing might be sorta OK, especially if one gets a groove going with 'the percussion section'.Can be.
The excitement comes when everybody plays their minimalist part and it all locks in and becomes something bigger. An irresistible groove. Kind of like reggae in a sense. Of course, this happens less and less now, as most the younger cats don't know the vocabulary.
Or maybe I was just high.
EDIT: To me it's a very organic thing, and when it happens, its rarely the same way twice.
Say the drummer starts to accent things differently. That makes me play off of him different. When everyone onstage has big ears, things can happen.
Almost like jazz, in a very simplistic sense.
Don't know it.Does Gary Moore's "Oh Pretty Woman" fit the bill?
"They" say when it does happen it will be a big one felt over the whole region. The last big one up here at my mountain place was in the 1800’s. I recall it has been a long time since the last major Meridian quake? We’re both probably due. Hope I’m gone when it happens here.
Ummmm, no.
Reverb had one in the past, but it was sold. Went for about $200. I'll keep an eye out. No rush at this point. ThanksFound it in a thread on TB. A guy who uses it with his SGT. Don't know how available they are.

Nobody's gonna see it that close up unless yer hitting them upside the head with the headstock-which will then come flying off.Need honest opinions here:
After fine compound single manual pass, finish looks like this:
From 6 inches - looks sweet and deep

From 0.5" under magnification - quite a few early 1000-grit sanding scratches remain when caught in the light; not really naked-eye visible at least with my used up eyes

Should I :
A) call it good and move on to final 'swirl remover' compound
B) drop back to medium compound then up to fine again
C) do a pass with 3000-grit on a hard flat block, then work up again thru the compounds
Not too concerned about the "wear" parts of the neck. Just the showy flat faces.
Glad to help spend money that isn't mine.Reverb had one in the past, but it was sold. Went for about $200. I'll keep an eye out. No rush at this point. Thanks
Maybe someone made a hard landing?Felt nothing here.
PADUCAH, Ky. — A magnitude 2.5 earthquake rattled western McCracken County on Wednesday night.
The United States Geological Survey recorded the tremor at around 11:35 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday, almost 10 miles west of Paducah. The USGS map pinpoints the epicenter along the property line of Barkley Regional Airport in West Paducah.
The USGS said the quake occurred at a depth of eight miles. As of noon on Thursday, 40 people had reported that they felt the quake in the local area in Wickliffe, LaCenter, Metropolis, Paducah and Ledbetter, but also in places like Newburgh and Paoli in Indiana.
You can see more data at the University of Memphis/USGS website.
The New Madrid Seismic Zone it near this area. That's the one people around here worry about. Supposedly it's due to seriously let go any time. Not that it's expected, it's just due to let go.
Realistic answer.Nobody's gonna see it that close up unless yer them hitting upside the head with the headstock-which will then come flying off.
DC 1Os are grounded. For UPS anyway.Maybe someone made a hard landing?
As I recall, that’s a “boutique” product that doesn’t have any safety certifications. Not a big deal IMO …unless it sets your house on fireFound it in a thread on TB. A guy who uses it with his SGT. Don't know how available they are.

It's a modified 8-bar... so yeah, I guess its 3 chords formally, though you'd never know it from the bass line. 4:25 long, total of 8 notes used, all first position.Don't know it.
