Got these at Kohls a few years back and I'd love to get another pair just like them- can't find the style anywhere though. They're high tops with a single padded collar and a shoe horn/pull tab on the back, and a thick padded tongue. Anyone know if this style has a particular name?

Those are interesting. They seem thicker than the usual Chuck Taylors, which are just not substantial enough for my feet and ankles. Let us know if you find these; I haven't worn Converse All-Stars in decades!

The tongue and collar are the only padded parts, but there's still a noticeable difference between them and the standard all canvas Chucks. I wore the standard ones for years.

Did multiple image searches including the phrasing you mentioned and didn't see one match of the same style.

Not an expert, but I had a pair of low tops that looked exactly like those (aside from the height.)

Was a long time ago though.

I still have about 9 pair of Chucks, lows and highs, in various colors, including a couple that have never left the shoebox, but I can't wear them anymore on account of how bad off my feet are.

Chucks are pretty much all I wore my entire life until I hit 42 or 44 years old.

Should I eBay these things? Most are in great condition...

Good thinking- no model name on it, but the series of nonsensical numbers popped into Google works. The model is apparently called "Street Cab" and is out of production. The mids Ironbar just posted are close, but I really love the grey/orange combo. Thanks for the help.

Holy cow! $55 for Chuck Taylors? You gotta be kidding me. I used to wear those because they were cheap. They didn't last very long, but they were so cheap it didn't matter. There's no way I would pay $55 for a pair of shoes that are uncomfortable and won't last more than six or eight months anyway.

That's one of the very few sneakers I've seen that I liked. Wish I had seen them when they were available. Would have stocked up.

You can blame me if they disappeared from the market. Everything I like disappears.

Yeah, some time in the early 2000s they went from terrible $20 shoes to even worse $50 shoes. I used to wear them like crazy, but they are really the worst. They don't even feel good with insoles.

The very basic Chuck Taylor lo-tops can be had for around $35. And they really don't provide any kind of substantial arch support.

They look cool and they feel okay for a little while. But if you're doing any kind of serious walking? I wouldn't wear Chucks. If I want a pair that's comfortable and I know I'm going to be wearing them for a while? Then I'll wear a pair of my John Varvatos Converse All Stars. They're so much more comfortable than regular Chucks, but that comes with a price.

Bringing this thread to the front since I bought my first pair of Chuck's this past weekend since I was a kid. When I was a kid I had red ones and with how my body was at that time and how big my feet are, I looked like a clown.

Now I have a pair of Black and White high-tops and they are awesome: looks and feel. I learned they are using Nike Technology which is interesting for I no longer care for Nike shoes. Maybe I should give them a second chance but then again when it comes to sport sneakers I been wearing Asics for several years now.
