Double Bass Any DB players have a Kindle ?

I bet some of you have taped set lists and lyrics to your bass.
(btw Frog yellow tape is best)

I'm wondering if I could slap a Kindle with velcro on it?
I think they're about the right size.
The iPad is too big and heavy

I also hear the new one works well in sunlight.
I do a lot of outside gigs.

I use something in the shop called "rotunda" from http://www.rhctapes.com/ to fix parts on machines for turning , cutting , milling, etc. It's a very strong double adhesive tape which can be easily removed within a day or two. After that, even after years, it can be removed with a bit of lighter fluid. I have not tried it on a bass, but wouldn't be averse to use it in this situation if the need arose, as long as the varnish was solid.

Comparing Apples to ... Kindles ... a small sampling:

The iPad Air with 9.7" screen weighs a pound
A Kindle DX with 9.7" screen weighs just over a pound (1.18)

The iPad Mini non-Retina 7.9" Display weighs just over 1/2 pound, 0.68
A Kindle 6 (presumably with a 6" screen?) is just under a 1/2 pound, 0.42
A soon-to-be released Kindle Voyage with 6" screen will weigh 0.39 lb

I had no idea there were so many different types of Kindles. Since I'm not familiar with them, I could be way off track here, but I'm guessing the iPad has a greater scope of use ie more apps etc. I'd probably go for the iPad, as it's what I'm more familiar with (iRealBook, various Bass Apps, Jamup etc on mine), but I'm going to explore the Kindle some more ... whatever works best.

Good information in the thread: The mic-stand for the iPad and the Rotunda tape. Thanks!

Hey Robobass
I'm using Frog Yellow tape for know.
I was planning on going with velcro once I get it working.
I hadn't thought too much about the damage to the finish that velcro tape might do.

Here's a pic. It looks like it's going to work out well.
Much better then an iPad. The screen is just like paper outside in the sun.

Yes, a Kindle is nice outdoors. I don't know "Frog Yellow tape", but it should be alright if you pull it off right after the gig, and it always comes off cleanly. As to Velcro, the adhesives normally used are rather nasty, as with foam double stick tapes. I wouldn't use them if you care about your varnish. The RHC tape I suggested is designed to be removable. It would be my first choice if I found the need to stick something to my bass. Can't you just lay the charts on the stage floor?

Hi Huy
Thanks for the offer . Maybe I should just get one
An h-clamp may be the perfect solution for a lot of things.
My Realist pickup broke so I need something to attach a mic too.
I have an iPad holder that attaches to a car seat head and it might work with the clamp.
thanks again
Bob, you're welcome to borrow an H-Clamp from me if you want to try that route. I have one sitting around.
