Any decent acoustic bass under $400 ?

Hi dear fellows bassist!
Probably there is a post about this topic but I'm don't want to read a lot cause no time.
So the question is this:
An acoustic bass 4 or 5 string to enjoy myself at the beach?
Can you share your thoughts?
Quick recommendation?

The Mitchell T239B, no strap, it's under $300 new. Usually can find one at a guitar center. It's my beater/new ideas bass. I've left it in the hot car for a couple days and it was alright. Kids mess around on it sometimes and it's alright. The electronics on it are pretty dookie, but that's not what I'd buy an acoustic bass for. In concert with another acoustic guitar it is plenty loud enough. 2 acoustical guitars, ehh, better slap that thing hard.
For traveling around and having it potentially get ruined outside It's my go too.
Used you can prolly find one around $200.

The above is not the post I made, it was censored. I said that all acoustic basses sound bad, and that people like the *idea* of them more than they almost always like them in practice. Please delete the post above moderators.

The best acoustic bass is a cheap Precision bass into a battery powered amp (Spark Mini gets my vote).

Ibanez used to do a shortie that I think had a solid mahogany top that was neat for plunking around with while accompanied by not much else than seagulls, wind, and buzzing bugs.

@Anjohl you're not incorrect, but you likely got censored because your censored assertion is rendered moot by the text of the Original Post. The idea most people have about ABG is that it can support/accompany other instruments- something that many of us have proven that even the most expensive, most well made ABG's can't actually do well at all. OP just wants to play solo for their own enjoyment and do it on the cheap.

The reason given was my wording, which is why I replied with the gist of my original post, but sugarcoated. I don't get why a moderator would edit my post without my permission. That's tantamount to putting words in my mouth. I wish they'd just deleted it.
