Any Decent Overdrive Pedals?

I use two overdrive pedals on my board. My favorite so far is is the Barber 1/2 Gainer. It's a guitar overdrive, but it has trim pots inside that you can tweak to make it a really good bass pedal. It's basically two of the Barber LTD's in one pedal. Here's a clip of the Barber Silver LTD, very close to one of the sounds you can get with the 1/2 Gainer by tweaking the trim pots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV2Sa-qo7YY

The other overdrive I use is the Okko Basstard. I use it alone for a heavy overdrive and I use it with the 1/2 Gainer for a fuzzy over-overdrive that I can do some feedback with if I crank the gain on my amp and push my headstock against the wall (1/2 Gainer -> Basstard): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8u_OcH4MUQ

I would recommend the ashdown james lomenzo hyperdrive distortion bass pedal because its designed to use with another distortion pedal and I would recommend using a Marshall guv'nor distortion pedal. The Marshall pedal was designed for a guitar but sounds amazing on bass.

For overdrive, i use the Fulltone Bass Drive. If possible, find the non-MOSFET version. Full on analog awesomeness!

Has the separate boost channel if you really wanna get a fuzz tone.

If you're looking for distortion, not fuzz, sansamp is probably the best readily available option. At least here in US. I like the overdrive/fuzzes more than the straight up sansamp distortions. ODs can sometimes suck some lows and mids out of the mix, but they can be dialed back in with a BBE or some careful tone dialing on the OD pedals themselves.

I love my Fulltone OCD. It does a great job of going from a very light soft clipping Overdrive to an almost all out fuzz. The knobs are very sensitive and really do a lot of tone shaping. The OCD also can give a clean boost of 18bs, a huge boost if you want to make that Hartke of yours have a bigger bite. It is a cheaper option to the Aguliar and Darkglass already mentioned, and this one should be much easier to find around town to play with.

Oh +1 INDEED!!!

This is my main distortion/OD pedal right now and let me tell you, talk about runch!! My sound got so raunchy and awesome last night at practice my guitar player stopped in the middle of the song when I kicked it into high gear! It is exactly what I've been looking for in an OD pedal forever. And I have tried quite a few. I am eagerly awaiting the B7K from Darkglass tomorrw. So my use for my OCD may stall a littel but I will hold onto the OCD forever. It cuts through the mix better than any other OD/distortion I've ever heard. And agin, Ive used a lot of them. It is the raunchiest (this is something I expect out of an OD pedal btw, RAUNCH) pedal Ive ever heard and I love my OCD. Try anything you can get your hands on though. Im sure you find something that you love too. Ive heard very good things about the Fuzzorocious stuff too. Their sitr gives sound clips and I was actually going to buy one of their pedals but then I stumbled across Darkgalss then it was over!
