Any experience with Krank?

I'm talkin about the cabinet not the head. I can't base if I like it on just this video for: The head could be reason as to why there might not be the best tone, could of been the bass itself cuz I'm not a fan of gibson, or it could of been the camera itself cuz it didn't seem like the quality of the camera was all that great. Besides I didn't think it sounded that bad when he wasn't using the wah, I'll admit it did sound muddy with the wah which I don't like since I do use one. It just sounded like he had the treble up maybe a little too much. When I play I like a sound that cuts through the mix and is cold sounding but boom when I hit on the E string, or in my case the C# string.

The thing is though is I see all these people running around with some combination of a 4x10 cab, a 2x12 cab, and a 1x15 cab and they sound pretty good, at least what I can hear through the mix, but this thing just puts one of those combinations into one solid piece instead of making one carry around 2 cabs and get speaker 2 cables.

I've also seen reviews of the Mesa Boogie power house 1200 & 1000 and they weren't bad some were actually pretty good. Then I look it up on here and people have nothing but bad stuff to say about it, some never really giving a definite reason as why they don't like it, and others that do actually give a reason are then contradicted by what some one else says(but again that is opinion and there will always be a contradictory opinion out there.)

Oh, you're talking about the bass cab. okay. the bass cab has an unusual combination. I would of expected an 8x10 bass cab.

The krank dirty valve bass head sounded really tingy and harsh sounding especially because the guy on this clip had too much treble on that amp.



I still say that the randall rb500 has a much smoother sound. I wish that bassplayer.tv still has that clip because that's where I've seen a video demonstration of that amp.

I am not posting to endorse or criticize Krank Amplification and their bass amp offerings. But, looking at the link and listening to both their video and audio samples, the video seemed to be poor quality soundwise. The audio (full mix) sample in the link above the video seemed to be a much better quality and the overall sound was significantly better than the video. If you haven't listened to the audio only sample, you might want to give it a try.

Point taken, and you are correct.

However, without any "verification" that the bass on that track was taken from a mic'ed up Krank cab, it still leaves you wondering how much is the actual cab, and how much of that recording is studio magic ?

Ok now I'm hearing what I wanted to hear. I wasn't trying to make excuses or had my mind set on this cab. I was wanting a good opinion with some good solid ground to back it up. I didn't want to hear "the cab is bad cuz the video is bad" or "I just don't like having 2 seperate sized speakers." I'm really looking for a new cab that can get really low since I play downtuned, but has good clarity and good highs too.

Second, if you ARE going to make something like that, why would you put the 2x12's on top of the 4x10's? That just looks dumb. Everyone and their mother puts the larger sized speakers on the bottom.

Why? There's no particular reason to do so. I put my 1x15 on top of my 2x10. Sounds cooler that way. That's when I realized that I really want a 2x15, though.

if i thought two separate sized speakers would work as well as matching sizes, i'd have a rig with two separate sized speakers. you can think i said "I just don't like having 2 seperate sized speakers" if you want, but that is far from accurate. besides, s[peaker size means diddly as far as getting low or getting high. one of the lowest going speakers on the market is the ampeg svt 410 hlf, and it's got all 10"s.
