Any good "modern" bassist

Modern bassist to me means some of the guys on youtube that play white knuckle chord structures on the neck, use multiple plucking fingers, and know double thumbing technique. There's some great players online.

I've never heard them, but imo it's a pretty good rule of thumb to never check out the ________water Band.

you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you were to follow the rule in this instance.

good, honest old-school rock and roll served with a side of unpretentiousness. (And they're out playing damn near every weekend...so they'll probably be rolling through a town close enough to you soon).

if you're into that sort of thing.

Rival Sons, another good band. The Sheepdogs, they're from Canada, they're worth checking out.

Can't believe I forgot these guys, but if you've never checked out 'Horse The Band' do yourself a favor and pick up there CD's.. Especially "The Mechanical Hand" that album is a masterpiece of modern rock. All instruments are at top form, the vocals go from heavy screaming to quite melodic. Great arrangements, production and sound. There are also a few hidden bass solos!
