Double Bass Any Late Bloomers? (DB Forum thread)

I love this thread! When I first found this double bass forum (almost 2 years ago) and began reading through all the posts voraciously(sp?) I felt a bit intimidated at the experience level of the members -- nice to see that there are so many 'late blooming newbies" here as well!

I'm 43, played electric bass since I was a teenager in rock/blues bands. Took up the DB about 3 years ago and I fell in love with it. Now, after a number of teachers, I play in two jazz combos and my old fender jazz bass has now become a dust collector.

Another late bloomer here, in my early 40's now.

Started about 10 years ago, fell off the wagon more times than I can count, but always get the strength to climb back on eventually.

It's such an awesome instrument and the inspiration to pick it up, haul it around and play is in infinite abundance.
