Any Love for Eden 210XLT

I was recently pursuing the acquisition of an SWR Goliath jr III cabinet but as luck would have it , the drivers in that cab were smoked 🥲. Now, without ever hearing or seeing one in real life, my attention has shifted toward the Eden 210XLT 8 ohm cab.
Any info on the worthiness of this cab as a standalone cab, paired with another 2x10 or a 1x15.
Basement/garage band would be my primary focus here.
Music genre would be along the lines of:
Dream Theater, Satriani, Scorpions, Alan Parsons, Steely Dan, Dio, Queensryche.
Any and All info is greatly appreciated.
Currently I am using an SWR Working Pro 210 as my only cab.

I ran a d210xlt, only drawback for me was the weight. Pretty sure it's heavier than the d210 (65 lbs) My guess is my d210 xlt was just over 75 lbs. I would pair it with a single 15 cab and it held up well Loved the tone, but eventually I went to something I could carry with one hand so I only needed to make one trip.

For smaller shows I'd run two stacked Carvin cabs to put one at ear level. Paired with an elf amp a single carvin was plenty for me to use as a practice amp. Not something to brag home about, but my mindset became more about convenience over fighting to get perfect tone on stage. (That's what EQs are for)

BTW.. I've got a workingman 410, and I probably use the eden d210xlt more at home than the working man. Both have their positives.

I've had the 210XLT and the 210XST. These cabs are loud and very modern sounding, not a vintage sound at all. I actually bought the XST to give me a little more low end to use under the XLT, and I don't play heavy music at all. Having said that, they do sound amazing. I used a single stand alone 2x10 cab many times in small group settings, but with the music you're describing I would absolutely recommend a second cab for the headroom. Again. they sound amazing!

I eventually went to another brand due to the weight of the Edens.

As long as the drivers are original and in good repair, it's a great cab. By todays standards, it's big and heavy. Same problem as the SWR, new replacement drivers are difficult to find. Eminence may make a drop in replacement that is close enough. The model is CA1059 . The CA1059 was made in both 8 and 16 ohms, but I believe the 16 ohm variant may be discontinued. If you eventually need to replace a driver, both need to match.


My last touring rig include a D210XLT and D410XLT. I typically use just the 210 pushed by one side of a 260W power amp. It was plenty for my needs, but I always had full PA support.

These cabs are very efficient but they are not low frequency monsters. They have a bit of a bump in the low mids. I also find them somewhat grainy sounding in the high mids. Dialing back the tweeter a bit helped, but was not a total solution for me.

I have had many an Eden cab throughout the years. These things have already been mentioned but.....they are heavy......they can work good as a stand alone cab but if you are going to be pushing significant volume you might want a second.....and make sure you check the drivers for creasing. These cabs are getting old and I'm sure most have seen some mileage. My last Eden cab was a 210XLT that structurally looked in excellent condition but I finished off the drivers. I was able to source a re-cone kit and did both drivers myself but I don't believe they were on par with what the originals sounded like. That said if you aren't going to move it all that much and don't push them past their limits they can still be a great sounding and functioning cabinet.

Yeah, I rocked one for years in medium sized venues. It sounded great but I ended up destroying the speakers one night. After the reconing I gave it back to its owner. LOL

AFAIK it's not an exact replacement for the original Eden driver. Could be better, could be worse. There are quite a few comments on TB you can find.

Keep in mind a pair of CA1059s is going to set you back about $350. Probably better to put the money towards a good used cab rather than trying to sort out a basket case.

IMHO, the EDEN 210XLT will smoke any SWR 2X10 cabinet. It's an excellent cabinet. I used one for many years and it may be all you need for most situations. My only gripe resides from my ever escalating age. It is heavy. 68 lbs but if you're able bodied, it does the job and sounds great doing it.

Shipped???? Wow congrats.

I bought my Eden 210XLT new from Bass Northwest in 1997. It had a four year break during the 'rona but it played every gig I've had since 97 and I still have not had any problems with it as of yet. It has not been serviced or had a need for one and the rat fur is still looking pretty ok for rat fur. Someday it might die but so far it refuses to to even get sick.

Tip: You may or may not like the sound of the tweeter in the cab. If you don't like the tweet, more power to you, but don't turn it all the way off. Apparently turning it off or setting the pot at 0 can potentially burn out the L-pad.

I have faith that your new-to-you cab will be in good shape and I hope you have a blast with it.
