Any mountain bikers??

One-FITTY? Ima get TWO. :D
I know a guy who had a Karpiel- can't recall if it was the Armageddon(what a ripping name, eh?)- it was FAR more well-designed than this pile of beercans. I go back & forth w/CL bike ads- from *oh that's rich* to *AYFKM?!?* Comical...
Welp, gotta go hammer middle child up a hill or two.

They're pretty cheap. Regular price isn't much over $300. Paint and such isn't up to boutique standards but who cares at that price?

Yeah, that thing is definitely not put together like the Karpiel, just looks a bit like it. I suspect that bike would be outperformed by one of today's 6x6" AM bikes on a DH course. :p And those tires! Maxxis hasn't made the red-stripe tires since, what, 2002? I'm pretty sure they'd disintegrate in short order on the trail.

And have fun cracking the whip on your kid! I got my 3 year old a Strider run bike a few weeks ago and he's pretty gung-ho about it. It's cool to get the kids into it!

Hey, Mark- can you reccomend a good source for On-one? Their home page doesn't seem to want to tell me much about the 456, and I'm not seeing any on feebay ATM. OOP?

They're distributed by PlanetX in the US. There's a link to the web store below. At the moment I don't see a 456 with horizontal dropouts but the Inbred has them. That bike has more traditional XC geo though.

These guys are kind of like the rondo music of mtb. I dig it. Fair prices on some of these frames. Cool for experimental, or second bike builds. Some of those frames look like a Specialized Stumpjumper or Carve frame met up with an Orbea. They look nice. If I didn't need to buy the whole package, I'd definitely get one of these.

Meanwhile, I've ordered a Specialized Carve Expert 29HT. It's supposed to arrive today, but maybe tomorrow. I hope it comes to day, then I can ride it. I won't have time to pick it up tomorrow. *waiting* *waiting* *waiting* :bassist:

Yeah, I gotta go slack- my favorite bikes are very laid-back(Pro Cruiser- 69 head, 47 Schwinn, not sure but def slack). I may polish up the Scalpel, slap gears back on & flip it to fund a 456.
Anyone know much about Redline Monocogs? They're pretty common as well as cheap, but I'm guessing more XC-type geo.

Laidback is laid back, yo.

What the flerp

Dang! It's been years since I've seen a storm! :smug:

These were made I think...here in california, when cali was downhilling mecca....late 90's early y2k...these were nice! The team rode orange painted storms.

That time I had a "cheetah", made by another so cal little company. They are long gone...just like storm. Those were the glory days!

Didn't get a chance to ride it though.

Nice! I love the look of flat 31.6mm bars, HT frame & 29er wheels

Yeah, it's a good frame. I went for a night ride last night. Even though I was on the streets, my first impressions are that it doesn't feel like a 29r. It's nimble and responsive. Of course, I wasn't on a trail, but I think I'm going to enjoy the tight geometry of this bike. :hyper:

That's a nice looking bike. Very clean lines. Looks like it would be a lot of fun! Gotta try a 29er again one of these days.

I rode last night. Got on the trail at 9PM, solo with lights. The darkness and thick fog made the woods pretty spooky. Night riding is awesome, though, you can get really focused on the trail in front of you.

Going to Florida for a week tomorrow, going to rent a fat bike so I can do some beach riding!

Cruisers are a necessity around here. Mine has a basket that can easily hold a 24 pack.

OK , I have all the parts , a couple from my bike like the Rohloff and the lefty/wheel , all the new parts are in (photo) , just waiting for the frame :hyper:

Man, I love laying the guts out pre-build. Fun stuffs. Hey, on that note- *Lefty*... on a non-Cannondale frame(correct?)... is there such a thing as a non-CD frame that would accept a Headshock fork? I am wrestling w/dumping the Scalpel(long story, details in another chapter)but LOVE and have no issues w/the HS- it's also freshly rebuilt & fully functional.

The frame I've ordered is Lefty specific
It's easy with a lefty on normal frames with 321project adapter but for a Headshock , you need the cannondale headtube.
You also have to know that a Lefty is considered a dual crown , so the head tube frame have to be designed so. ( forces applied)
