Gosh it's quiet... TOO quiet. :D

I hope everyone's out riding- I am tied up w/out-of-school kids and nursing a neuroma(pinched nerve in the ball of my right foot :(), haven't been pedalling enough.
I also need to work out some noises in my *dream-but-having-doubts* SS Scalpel... 10 yr old aluminum & carbon(w/bonded chainstays)+XL(meaning a large person likely rode this poor dog for a good portion of it's life)=potential reliability issues. I am having some unidentified creaking and other little noises- she feels good but it makes me cautious. I'm also wondering if the slack(69 degree)head angle of my old(now main again)bike vs the more-trad XC geometry of the Scalpel are a big factor in the short-lived honeymoon. I've even considered slapping a 29 or 650B wheel & fork on it to try and lay the head angle back a bit. An expensive gamble to be sure... MTBR ditched their 69/96er forum, plus those guys are way elitist compared to TB- I'm not getting any warm fuzzies. Friggen cyclists... :D

Just been riding..............nothing much to post.........did 14 miles this morning at 5:30am to get a ride in before work.............found some new single track I didn't notice before, was a blast..............broke a spoke, so I'll be truing wheels tonight!!

... I try to ride more days of the week than not. Got out yesterday ... not today. Luckily my local trails are less than a 10min drive. So I can usually fit in a quick 45min-1hr one if pressed for time. Too hot today @100*F ... looks to be in the mid 90s early next week ... so I'll be out sweating then ... good thing the trails are all heavily wooded. Going more than a couple days without a quick ride bums me out ... but it's better that, than heat stroke.:smug:

June and July are crazy for me , no time to ride, too much gigs.

I have an almost empty August so I'll get some Km back under the saddle !!!!!

( and some time to finish that new bike !!!! )

Sweet ride, Mr Bigglesworth.

I am TORN: I decided to re-gear & sell the Scalpel(convinced I would be happier on something w/relaxed head angle), then realized I could likely dump the frame/fork and use most of the parts for the 456 I am now fairly obsessed with... so when I pulled the BB(last item)I discovered BOTH sides were finger tight- the drive side had even backed out a bit.
In a way that's reassuring as the bike had developed some *mystery* noises- I have to believe this was at least part of the prob. At this point though, I need to build it back up and see if the BB was the whole issue- I'll want to disclose that should I go through w/the sale... that said, if I build it up & REALLY like it- again(fickle-A-beesch that I am )I can't see myself going 456. They are cheap though...:ninja:

Still waiting for the new frame ..... :hmm:

I received the Gates belt and can't believe how light it is compared to chain/ring combo. Didn't know it was that light.
I decided to go that way for the "setup and forget" to go with my Rohloff.

I read different reviews on the Belt subject , some like it , some don't , can't wait to try it !
