My buddy has this bike. The Giants are a pretty good deal. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Congrats

Uphills and downhills are so much easier and riding my trek 6000 feels like a toy now.

This is an everyday thing on the trails of SoCal!

) Congrats on the new ride! ... are you a FS convert now?
... sure ... you just went from a Willys Jeep to a Land Rover.
Are you finding a 29'er to have slowed you ascents?
I've got a line on a Banshee Scratch ... which is set up as a jump bike. (26'ers, Bomber front end, Mavic rims, front & rear hydrolic disk breaks, single speed)
Researching the Scratch, I understand that it is a bit of a cameleon (able to be set up in a number of different styles). Since I'm too old to be doing any hard core jumping anymore ... I'm looking to set it up as a solid AM (all-mountain) bike with a (1x ...) drivetrain. From what I understand they are bullet-proof. I also really like the geometry.
Does anyone have any experience with a Banshee Scratch?
Is $600 (with quality components) a good deal?
Any thoughts would be great!![]()
ubado...sorry I can't help you.
Here's a trail picture.

Banshee frames are near indestructible. Geometry tends to the slack side of things as they're designed on the north shore, which certainly suits my preferences. $600 sounds like a decent deal, perhaps depending on the actual model of fork on there.
This bike is far too clean.![]()

... then plan to turn it into a (2x1 or perhaps 3x1).
OK, now don't take this the wrong way- I ride a SS MTB- but why 2- or 3x1? I assume you mean 2/3 chainrings and a single cog(in the rear)- I'm also curious as to how you would set this up w/regard to chain tension..?
