I just bought a very nice Squier PJ, a Standard model from 2008. Very light, looks great, feels great... It cost me £90.
Unless you're a collector who likes this kind of older not very good instruments, I'd stay well away.

I was offer a Fender MIM for about 320 ( haven't test yet ) and saw this ads , I was thinking if it is a wise choice to choose this over the Fender and save the 100

Some of those random Japanese fender copies are pretty cool, especially for the price of entry. I think the price tag on this particular specimen is a little high.

If you are looking for a solid player on a budget, the Fender MIM's are really, really good. Very practical choice and you have a world of mods open to you if customization is your thing.

First, on the Dimarzio comment, if you have not heard Dimarzios with 1k pots you should not roll your eyes. They open those pickups up and add some much needed air.

In fact, here is a set of Dimarzios demoed with 1k pots. They sound exceptional, and remove the muddiness most associate with those pups:



The second comment was specifically toward a short era of MIJ manufacturing where they used multiple layers of maple as a cost cutting measure. These necks almost always ended up wonky. They're nothing like boutique built laminate necks.

My comments were fair and accurate in light of these facts.

If the neck was in nice shape and it played and sounded nice, $300-400 would not be too much of a stretch. If it's one of the lower quality one with a laminate neck and a plywood body, I would agree with you totally.

1 kOhm is an impossibly low value. Even low-impedance active pickups typically use 25 kOhm pots. Standard for passives is either 250 kOhm (single-coil) or 500 kOhm (humbucker). Perhaps you meant 1 MOhm?

Then you should have stated so. As originally written, your comment appeared to be categorically casting a negative light on laminate necks, which is unfair, and potentially misleading for those who may not have inferred your unspoken context.
