any stroke recovery stories for me?

I have not had a stroke, but I do hope that you have the will to keep fighting and recover as much of what's yours.

I have recovered from a physically debilitating cancer affliction. Pain on an unprecedented scale and damage to my back and constant nerve-sciatic type jolts.

It HAS changed me greatly. I refuse to suffer fools and realize each morning is a beautiful thing. I am back to playing music but I need my sleep. You'll probably have some diminished physical ability...it's the way it is. Just make the most of it and keep your body in the best shape you possibly can.

It's physiology, there are no guarantees.

Glad you're mostly intact. There's good info here.
Playing music builds synaptic connections - of that I am convinced.
My guitarist and friend had a massive stroke Oct of 2014 that left him paralyzed on one side of his body and unable to speak.
We still play music together almost every week. He can blow a harmonica, and he can make chords with his left hand - just can't strum or pick, but we manage. It seems to be helping his overall progress, and definitely his outlook (which was amazingly positive to begin with).
Wishing you a full return to health.
