My band is downsizing their gear (guitarists are dropping down to 2x12's from 4x12's) and my set up right now is going to blow them out of the water (ampeg svt 4 pro and an ampeg 1540 cab) so I'd like to go with an SVT Classic head and a 6x10 speaker. I know Ampeg makes one, but are there any other companies that do? I've looked at Avatar and Orange but no luck... suggestions?

Any suggestions for a good 6x10 cab?

My suggestion, hold on to what you have and just turn down your master. Who cares if they downsize right now, if the go back up it will cost you more than them to upsize again.

You could just pick up an Ampeg 4x10 Classic. Half the size, less than half the weight, yet still loud enough, and similar sound to your current cab.
I prefer 15s, and would recommend a pair of 1x15 cabs. That way you can take both for more volume when you need it, or just one for "typical" gigs.
Lots of down-sizing going on these days. I started this "trip" 10 years ago and ended up building 112, 212, 115 and 215 TL cabs, and mix n match them as needed. Though once in a while I GAS for "store bought" cabs...
One of the fave "kits" recently seems to be the Bergantino 112s, and Aguilar 112s. A pair of either seems to be enough for most players. Its the Bergs I have GAS for myself!

I used to own an original SWR Goliath, SR that had 6x10's. The speakers were made by PAS, I believe. The cab handled 1000 watts and weighed 115 pounds. The newer cabs still weigh the same but have been upgraded to handle 1200 watts. It was one of the most amazing cabs I've ever owned. It would sound good with any amp and could handle any venue you could throw at it, big or small, inside or outside, with or without PA support. I did many outdoor gigs with that cab without any PA support and never had any problems cutting those gigs. I highly recommend checking one out. You WILL need a larger vehicle to transport it. I owned, at one time, an all original early 70's SVT with the 8x10 cab and IMHO,I would bet any amount of money that the SWR 6x10 would blow away any SVT cab for gain and tone. )-(

There is ONLY one 6X10 Cab (or 8X10 cab for that matter) based on my experience and that is the Bergantino NV610. Those that have heard one know what I mean, those that haven't can't debate it...I have played them all and for me the Bergantino is in a class totally by itself!

Bergantino NV610, huh? Never even heard of them, but just did some research. Sounds like it's pretty awesome... but a little pricey. Can't find any used or anything. And even though they are manufactured out near where I am, there are no dealers near me! Thanks for the advice though!
sup homie. Full downsize huh? Aguilar makes some nice stuff too, might be up your alley? And to think, I bought my 1540 cuz yours sounded so good.
