any Sunn Coliseum 300 owners out there?

How old is that Folded Horn?-----I have thought they do not make FH's anymore? I used 2 GK Folded horns back in the late '70's with Crown 500 watt power amps---loud as bejeezus!

I've had my Coliseum 300 for many years. I play mine thru a 18" cerwin vega folded horn. All the bass & volume you'll ever need. I don't really like the pre-amp section, so I use a Peavey century, then run the pre into the Sunn's power amp input. Much more punch and no hum. The coliseum and vega folded horn are the perfect match.

So you don't like the preamp and are only using the power amp section? I guess I'm not quite understanding, the beauty of the 300 IS the preamp imo. I've never had a problem with hum from mine.

Still got mine. I'm the original owner. Played through some homemade cabss until I bought an Ampeg V4b cabinet and it really cranked. The head is 2 ohms and 300 watts as stated before. The cabinet had settings for 4 or 8 ohms. At the time I just chose the loudest. Read lots of good things about this amp and wish I had known more about how to use its capabilities better when I was playing it in the late eighties. Actually donated the cabinet in good condition to the salvation army in the early 2000s. due to we needed room in the garage. Somebody got a good cabinet.
Now I got a mini rihg with a Carvin BX700 w/ BRX 10.2 cabinet. Will keep the coliseum for back up for now.
