Anyone have this head, or the AH500? Can anyone comment on the Trace signature tone? - clean, grindy, HIFI?? Curious about them but don't have any direct experience.

I have had the pleasure of owning an AH500 for the last two years. It's a really good sounding amp, and with 8x10 inch speakers I have never had problems with lack of headroom.
I usually play a Stingray and cutting just a bit at 120Hz I get the most punchy tone I have ever heard
But the AH500 doesent have the low and high band compressors so I cant say much about them. I only tried the AH1000 once...

Trace does one particular sound well in my experience. A sort of rock/funk vibe, metallic but punchy. The twin compression is quite useful in taming the deep lows whilst not going overboard on the more audible top end.
If it was a bass it would probably be a Musicman Stingray
