Anybody here from the StL area?

He wife is wanting to move to St. Charles, and wanting to hopeful attend a dental hygiene school in the fall.

Here's the problem. I currently work at a manufacturing job making good money ($19 an hour) as a welder. What jobs are in the StL area that pay the same or close to?

I talked to a friend that used to live in that area and he said I could make damn good money working at Guitar Center, but I don't really believe that.....

So any insight or ideas is greatly appreciated.......

And just as a side how is the music scene in the StL area?

You are not going to find a $19 an hour job welding here. GC doesn't pay crap. Construction has been bad for a few years, though it is starting to pick up a little, especially with the recent storms. If you don't have a degree or a skilled trade, you aren't going to make any money here.

You would be close to Boeing, which is in North St Louis County. If you can get on there, you would make decent money and union benefits. Getting on can be tricky. Knowing somebody helps. GM in Wentzville is still up and running.
