Anybody know these pickups??

I have a beautiful '82 P-Bass that was customized with two awsome sounding pickups - but I do not know the maker of them. Can anyone tell from my too small picture?? I am willing to e-mail you the pic if you want me to.
I am also trying to find what a reasonable selling price for it would be?? The neck is a dream come true and body is in great shape.

They are definately bass pickups.

Bill Lawrence made bass pickups like the L500B and the L250B.

Yep BL's is a good bet. Check his site or email him.

Anything is only worth what someone's willing to pay at a given point in time or the utility the user gets out of it. And anything without a pedigree/track record is not likely to bring a price reflected in your description.

My guess is what you paid for it doesn't reflect the description?

Anyway, if you get back what you paid regardless of the variation in the value of a dollar you're one up on the vast majority of musicians.

The bridge is most likely a guitar humbucker.

The blades on the bridge pickup look too thick to be Lawrence pickups. It looks like an old Bartolini Laminated Blade Humbucker.

take them out and have a look underneath them. Almost every manufacturer will brand their pickups somehow.

Well neither Lawrence or Bartolini have a name on the bottom of the pickup.

But they might be something else entirely.

Both were possibly not made by the real Bill Lawrence, but by the guy who bought Bill's brand name years ago, and just recently forced the real Bill Lawrence to stop using his own name in conjunction with guitar pickup sales. It was a long court battle, I'm assigning no blame, but believe that the real Bill Lawrence products (P-46 and J-45 bass pickups etc) are way better than the stuff being sold by "BILL LAWRENCE Products". The real Bill Lawrence products can be gotten at www.billlawrence.com , although his former partner is apparently shutting him down there too, as there are few if any products listed there.

Yeah, the original Bill lawrence pickups are better. I have 2 real L-250's in a guitar I built that has a Tele bridge, so I had picked up a newer L-250T from Stew-Mac when they were selling them.

It was weaker and thinner sounding than the originals.

The Real Bill Lawrence, a.k.a. Willi Stich is a very talented pickup designer.

But, yeah, that looks like the same P bass pickup.

Yeah, the REAL Bill Lawrence stuff is better. He's a god in my eyes. One that got screwed, but still, he's the real thing.
