Anybody slapping with 16.5mm spacing?

uhm, ever heard of broadnecks? those are Wicks 5/6 strings, but with 20mm string spacing.
Of course, with the exception of the Broadnecks but again those are rare compared to the bulk of the Warwick‘s and not all Warwick body styles come in a Broadneck. You actually have to seek out a Broadneck if that’s truly what you desire since the normal spacing at 16.5 to 17. I’ve owned 20+ Warwick‘s and never a Broadneck. And your Corvette $$ in your profile photo is not a Broadneck either.

it's not, it's a four-stringed one (and 19mm is standard for Wick fours anyway).

I owned a fiver Corvette and own a Thumb with standard narrow spacing, and, as stated before, I really prefer narrow spacing, so I actually like it.
Yeah that’s right, I remember my Thumb 4 had wider spacing. That’s one of the reasons I no longer have it, I think :)

i have a 16.5mm 6 string and several 16mm 6 strings (carvin or kiesels)

slap with no fear.

back in the day i used to quite a bit of slapping, vic stuff, all the madness. on 16mm spacing basses. not an issue at all, i'm often surprised that some people find it weird.

then again, some folks can't play on 16mm spacing at all, so it is definitely personal.

Hey, thank you all for you input and insight. I went and spent some time at a local guitar center during lunch. played a jackson spectra x series and a schecter C-4 bass. The smaller spacing, was well, easier for me. Not cleaner, but easier. Action was ridiculously high as is for most guitars and basses not setup. I played a few basses there. I switched to a stingray, and it was familiar to play, but way too big on the bridge. I noticed consistently that these newer ones(jacksons) have some neck shrinkage, and the frets are sticking out a little. I believe i'm game for 16-17mm.
