hey folks...i am a long time lurker here and felt obliged to chime in....after the few recording interfaces (including the Digi002, presonus,m-audio..blahblah...) that i have used in the past, I can safely say that the duet is in a class that is very much commendable at this price point...this should be a recommended product to anybody using a Mac product...it gets you in a realm of professionalism that in the past was unheard of and unacheivable at this kinda dough...i have some outboard gear (UA, manley...)that really comes to life through the duet but i recently did some recording in a cabin setting with just the duet and my mac with a shure sm57 mic, a couple of basses (Marcus Miller fiver & a seventies Japanese jazz copy with ole grimy flats) and an ole piece o crap hollowbody guitar...everything direct using the Duet's pre's...solid and clean as a whistle...with this unit there are no excuses to have at the very least a quality mp3 recording the rest is up to one's ability...sure you may seek out some alternative pre's, compressors and so forth but the AD/DA is not to freakin far from top notch...ultra-highly recommended from a dude that has used a few interfaces in a home project studio setting and been in a few higher end facilities that must be feeling the affects of these type of high quality home user interfaces...a mac (w/garageband) and the duet is a beautiful starting point for anybody looking to get into recording and to this point there has not been any combo of products for $500ish that gives this kind of value...and NO...i don't work for Apogee...i just really recommend this setup to anyone that anyone that will listen...can't go wrong!! Cheers TBers!!!
