Are any of you using iPads to capture demos?

if so, I’m curious as to what interface you’re using with it. I’m considering grabbing an Audient Evo 4 and just wondered what other options folks have tried.

I know the iRig is popular but the price point for what I want makes the Evo a much better deal.

I use an iPad, but only because it was a gift. Under normal circumstances, I would not spring for the price they are commanding now. As a musician there are some programs that I have found invaluable. I use GarageBand to quickly whip up demos of songs I am in the process of writing. The auto play feature on most instruments is an important timesaver.

As a jazz musician, I use iGigbook and iRealPro. I am able to carry 31 books and 1200 songs in an iPad, instead of a 30 pound book bag.

Thanks for letting us know how you use your iPad. But I’m looking for information on audio interfaces. What do you use?

howdy, I have also asked this question before, best answer I got were;

Garage band is made by apple and is a cheaper version of logic which is also owned by apple, logic from what I’ve been told imports/read/works best with Mac products. Garage band is free, logic usually is paid for.
I have also used Audible just fine tho on an iPad with everything mentioned below.

Input device;
Irig is easy to use, but with another type of cord you can use a cheaper one like Presonus Audiobox I2 you can get more bang for your buck. (Irig kinda over priced, for what it does imo, but is convenient)

Easiest way physically is to use iPad as a computer kinda tucked away and use a BUNCHA dif cords/adapters to run it to a big monitor to see your DAW better, another to your audio box and more to your pedals and have good cable management.

First part is prolly want you want to go to google to read more about , best of luck with your journey

I use a Steinberg UR-242 and the full version of Cubasis. If buying at this time I’d probably be looking at a MOTU M2 or M4.

I use an older iPad Pro with an Audient Evo 4. I like the form factor and large knob, though it took some getting used to.
I had the MOTU M2 for a short time and while it was very nice, its layout didn’t work as well in my limited space.
I would absolutely recommend both units.

Not just to capture demos, but I've given up entirely on playing actual basses all together and instead opted for an app.

The only downside is you can't play with a pick - it's only finger style.

Whatever you pick just don’t use the Irig 2 passive version. They are trash I have one and it has issues. The Irig USB version seems to be pretty popular version for small and simple, but I haven’t tested one for myself yet. So no opinions on that model.

The big knob controls: input gain, output volume, monitor mix and pan.
If you’re used to individual knobs, this seems weird at first. However, now that I’m accustomed to it, it’s very intuitive.
