Alchemy. The gold ones. I like em on the Bongo Stealth. Great feel, long lasting, sound fine. I don't know if they still make 'em, there was a blow out sale at GC - picked up 5 sets for like 12 bucks each. Probably last me forever.

Just wanted to add to my earlier post:
I also use the Blue Steels on my guitars, too, for pretty much the same reasons, mostly the feel and the tone.

Did blue steel bass strings ever come with light gray wraps ?
'81 Kramer pioneer, strings werent changed for quite a while according to the original owner, yet they sounded so nice so I left them, so now as i am doing some recording [I'm a guitar player] I find they are really dead in the mix.
Silver ball with no silk at ball end. Silver/gray at the peg end which almost blends in. stainless still attract a magnet?
Can post pics if need be.

Um....stainless steel music strings have to be magnetic for the pickups to sense the string.
I would say more silvery than gray but the older ones had black ball ends.
