Anyone else becoming a bass snob?

What does it mean to be a “bass snob”? Is that like, when you become one of those old men that insists that anything that isn’t a Precision Bass is crap?

If I’m a “bass snob”, then is it because I insist on only playing professional grade US/JP/DE made instruments? As if a $1000 used bass or a $1600 new bass (what I paid in 2002-2003 for my current two instruments) is somehow extravagant?

Am I a “bass snob” because, after over 25 years of playing bass, I will not buy another instrument unless it has *exactly* the specs I want?

You paid $1600 for a Warwick Custom Shop model? How?! I need to know!

Not a snob at all about instruments. Definitely a snob about the playing of them.

I've discovered Muckelroys in the last year. Number 5 came home with me this evening. Now every other bass I own other than my Earthwood acoustic is for sale.

I had an attitude about certain basses amps & gear however, I have what works for me and likely, there’s a universe of parts & gear I’ve never tried that would work but I ain’t lookin’ for it ‘cause I’m not about to change much unless necessity calls for it.

Yes but then what if I found out one of my favorite basses to play has a fingerboard radius I think I don't like and I have to start not liking it

But chances are very,very good that they will not go home with me.

Funny enough i played my friends EB-O once and didnt like the sound but it was so addicting to play some how

I am starting to understand my playing habits these days. With some awesome basses to choose from has made me understand when and why i pick some basses up and other are collecting dust. I am a bass snob for sure. But I want to find a way to make my collection a group of basses that I love having around and want to play. I just bought a bass that I didnt think i would ever own because it could possibly fill a gap that i think could be cool (havent got it yet). It has also made me realise that I have a few basses that are just not being chosen to be played for whatever reason and I am coming to terms with the idea of letting them go.

There's a YT video with a FCS guy who tries off the rack Squier and similar Fender guitars and is very impressed with them.

For a short time (maybe 2 gigs) I played a Squier VM Jag, got frowned on, bought a Fender p the next week.
