Anyone else hate Tyler Perry?

I can't stand this guy. He seems like the biggest idiot alive. His shows aren't funny, and all the white characters are always either dumb, fat, or mean.

I mean, the guy cares SO much about letting people know how many crappy movies that he has come out with, that he puts his name on everything. Tyler Perry's This, Tyler Perry's That. We get it! You make movies that aren't entertaining at all, but somehow you keep getting deals to do them.

The best thing he has ever done, was play a small part in that new Star Trek movie. I can't even watch TBS anymore without getting bombarded by commercials for his ******** shows. Tyler Perry must be sucking someone's tit down at TBS to have his shows be on there.

Does anybody else feel the same way? I mean his shows are the most corny and the least entertaining on TBS. With Bill Engvall's Show coming in second place.

It seems like he tries TOO hard to make the show relevant to viewers by making each one an after school special, dealing with drugs, or how hard black people have it.

Ok, I'm done. Haha. Anyone else can't stand him?

Okay, I looked him up. Seems he's made a lot of movies in a genre that is somewhat popular and now he's raking in tens of millions of dollars a year. I didn't see any particular references to him being a douchebag, but I can see why some people would be annoyed by his movies. Looks to me like he's getting rich providing harmless fun and entertainment to the masses. More power to him.

I can't see his movies being any dumber than a Will Ferrell flick and those are pretty popular these days.

Land Of The Lost was a flop from what i hear, so Will Ferrell's movies aren't becoming box office bombs, but i've never really liked most of Will Ferrell's movies anyway. Tyler Perry's either. Didnt Eddy Murphy do the same 'many people played by one guy' thing with the Nutty Professor movies before tyler perry did his stuff?

Dude, yer racist.

No, I'm kidding. But seriously, I just cannot understand the appeal of his body of work at all. I am not familiar with the entirety of it, but from the majority of what I have seen, every character is rigidly defined stereotype, every last bit of script is setup for obvious jokes / sight gags, and as alluded to re: the stereotyped caucasian characters in his programs, I would actually consider his work quasi-racist.

I am a librarian, and I can attest that all TP's Madea movies (and movies of the stage plays) are quite popular with the patrons in my area. The popularity isn't by race lines, either, as all people in my rural and primarily white area of Louisiana want to check out TP's DVDs.

My guess, though I haven't actually seen his movies, is that the humor appeals to people and that there's religious content. I'm definitely in the bible belt.

i don't like him because he reeniforces the steriotype that black people are different then white people...

just think if any one of the black characters in any one of his movies was replaced by a white person... they would be called racist for the rest of thier life

so, in a way, he promotes racism

nah, his movies have nothing to do with religion

its just a bunch of steriotype reenforcing jokes...

like the old black man saying "damn-it woman!"
