Anyone else likes lots of mids?

Well, my band and most of my fellow bassists likes bass with slightly cut off mids.
On the other hand, I LOVE the sound of Labellas Deep Talkin on my P-Bass thru Ampeg rig - tons of sweet low mids.
But today I've played my friends Spector through my rig and sansamp loved the sound, after that I plugged my P-bass (without Sansamp) and it sounded ... cheesy. Mid-cheesy :/

What the heck? Am I doing something wrong?

I set my EQ flat or near flat - I like to boost lows and low mids (450Hz) a little.

On my 400rb i have bass and trebble at noon, low-mids at 3 and high mids at 2.

800 is a good "boost" point IMHO!

i assume you are talking about the tech 21 sansamp. sansamp makes everything sound big....

I find extreme boosts in this range clash with television stations broadcasting in the UHF range.

Perhaps the switch to over the air digital TV will clear this up.
