Anyone ever give up bass for lent?

Just had a discussion with my wife which was kind of funny. Since Ash Wednesday was yesterday, we were trying to figure out what to give up for lent this year. Needless to say this came up and I laughed.

Curious if anyone tried this this..... Maybe I'll try giving up acquiring new gear for lent ya right!!!

Thats ridiculous! Give up bass for 40 days? I dont have any gigs booked yet, but surely something last minute will pop up in the next week or two.

A post on facebook from a friend said they were giving up sobriety for lent. I had to like that.

I gave up Catholicism for Lent years ago. Liked it so much I stuck with it! Give up bass? Never.

Ive done it before. Though, the concept of "lent" has never really applied to my areligious self.

I gave up pants for lent once... it is very cold in my neck of the woods... I got really sick within a couple days... couldn't have been karma though, catholics don't believe in that...

I would barely last a day....so I am not going to kid myself (or anyone else) and just say giving up bass would not be a wise choice for something to give up.

why would you give up music?

i just dont understand. give up your favorite junk food or something. music is a healthy thing to be involved in. giving it up is pointless.
