I dont watch NASCAR but they have been hyping up sundays race so much with the Danica Patrick noise that I'm going to check it out....and not because shes nice looking and only 5' 2" and drives a neon green godaddy car.

Growing up I used to think the day of the Daytona 500 should be a national holiday.
Today it does nothing for me.
Just the thought of listening to Daryl Waltrip go Boogity, Boogity, Boogity
or his hillbilly Co-commentator say "let me tell ya about push" one more time
is starting to make my left eye twitch.

I cared about NASCAR back in the day then grew bored of it. However, now that I work for one of the driver's primary sponsors, it's nice to keep an eye on our sponsorship deal and see how the #18 is doing these days.
Glad she wasnt seriously hurt in that crash but it looks like the drivers are pretty well padded in the cockpit. Just too bad it moved her to last starting position if Im correct.

Every crew chief and engine builder loves it.
I do not understand people saying the good old days were great and today the racing sucks.
Back in the day only 3 teams and 4-5 drivers had a chance of winning a race. Today 6 teams and 25+ drivers can win. The drivers are much better too. They are truly world class. Gone are the days when a "open wheeler" could climb in a Stock Car and win a race like Foyt, Andretti, Jones did. Today a F1 champ can't even get in a race and if they do they are a back marker.
Did anyone see Kyle Bush run the Bud Shootout! I have never seen better driving then that!
If you ask any of the old timers, Petty, Yarborough, Allison, Baker, They all say the drivers are better and they would much rather drive the cars we have now then the "junk" they had to drive.
Safety has improved so much too. If Danica hit that same wall 5 years ago like she did yesterday, she would be dead today and not out on the track like she is right now.
I agree- nothing has competition like NASCAR. I love F1, GP2, WSR 3.5, DTM, MotoGP/Moto2/Moto3, etc...but nothing, save for Moto2, has racing like NASCAR.
Though to be fair, HDRacer, most of the stock car guys couldn't jump in an F1 car and qualify either. Very different disciplines.
I wish Toyota wouldn't have dropped out of F1 before Kyle Busch got to do his F1 test day- that would've been interesting.
(As for Danica's crash, dead maybe 12-15 years ago maybe, but not 5.)

I think 3-5 Cup drivers could make it in F1.
They put the safer barrier up on that wall and paved the area leading to it when they repaved the track last year. Before that it was grass leading to a brick wall. She left the track at well over 190. With the paving she scrubbed off a lot of speed and the safer barrier absorbed the impact as it was designed to. There is no doubt in my mind that if that crash happened 2 years ago she would be dead or severely injured and her racing carrier would be over.
I think Tony Stewart would disagree with you (thought he is clearly an exception, not the rule).
Smoke is one of the guys that can be a champion in anything with a engine & wheels.
Hard to believe that he has been in Cup racing for 13 years.
