anyone feel like they're a "natural"?

I think I've told this story on TB already, but it applies here.
I think I have a natural tendancy toward bass. When I was a kid (yes I was one of those once) we would play "band" in the basement. When to other kids would grab sticks or knitting needles, and tennis or badminton raquets, I'd grab the corn broom, and play along with the bass. In HS, when someone had a radio on, I'd hook my thumb on my pocket, and use my fingers to play along. Eventually, I got a job and bought my first cheap bass, and worked my way up from there. Self taught, as I could never afford a teacher. Got the Hal Leonard book, and tried to learn songs I liked. Tried Pink Floyd's Money first.:eek: Went on to some ZZ top, and built up. :bassist:

Natural no way but I have always had a nack for playing an instrument and getting something musical out of them from early on. I had no formal training and a tad bit of guitar/theory lessions as a kid in school but forgot 90% of it. I can pick up anything if I'm interested in it and play a tune on it in short time but never have I mastered one ...that takes work for me to do. Music doesnt come easy but figuring out how to play something simple does.

I'm moderately skilled on piano, guitar, and drums, but I've never felt "at home" on any instrument as much as I do on bass (upright and electric). I once felt quite at home on French horn, and I have some facility with brass instruments, but I've not really played one seriously for many years.

I'm 17 and have a natural ability to play anything by ear, as i have perfect pitch. I'm classically trained in piano but I feel that was a waste of time as I end up playing and learning everything by ear and i'm relatively shocking at sight reading, also i am not interested in the classical style of music I am much more into funk/rock.
I can play along to any song that i know or have heard without learning it on bass before hand, so I spend most of the time on my bass playing along to my music collection on shuffle.
Recently I decided to teach myself to sing properly and learned to use head voice and my range has greatly increased.

I started teaching myself bass and drums at the same age of 12, and i think my experimentation of funk styles on the drums led to this being appropriated into my bass playing which allowed me to add in the rhythmical nuances/timing of funk very quickly.

I always try to develop my technical abilities further and my range of styles when practicing to make myself a better musician, I do a lot of reading and seek alot of criticism as i know this will make me better.

It took me a while to get my head around how music works (well, I'm still doing it to be honest!) but I don't think I ever would've played anything but bass. Once I'd taken up the bass guitar (by chance) - I noticed that all my favourite songs from when I was a little kid had great bass parts.
