Anyone had this trouble?

Bass Cabs are generally displacement limited to about 1/2 their rated thermal (RMS, continuous) power before damaging "farting" (AKA the voice coils slamming into the back plate of the magnet structure) - hence why there are so many guys here looking to recone/replace drivers. OTOH this is great source of cheap amusement to me so carry on :D.
I've been playing for over 40 years. all kinds of amps, all kinds of cabs, all kinds of music. never blew a cabinet, or a driver up even once.
While I do occasionally see a thread about someone who killed a driver, it does not seem like a significant trend.

FYI, the OP never said anything about cabs farting out BTW, just that the amp (PF500) had cut out on him.

I love the preening superiority of those who are amused by us mere mortals. enjoy your cheap amusement chuckles.
