Double Bass Anyone heard of these?

Just stumbled across this on eBay Newest Model Electric Upright Bass Light Easy-Take | eBay

Kind of interesting and wondering if anyone knows anything about them. The only major drawback I can see is from the picture it looks like there is only a 1/8" jack which wouldn't really work, but the pic is pretty blurry so I can't tell for sure.

Any info would be appreciated.

well, for starters, the specs claim "solid walnut" body.

The one pictured is clearly NOT made of walnut. My guess is maple.

The price seems too low for this instrument. Im skeptical.

Hope this doesnt take the wind out of your sails.

Also,, those 4 galvanized phillips screws holding on the tailpiece....GALVANISED??? REALLY?? o dear.

Last month I attended the Chinese version of the NAMM Show. It's a big music expo, put on by the same people that do the big expo in Germany. While I'm not sure I saw the exact model and make you ask about I saw several like it. They are all pretty awful. Bridges so high that they are allmost unplayable. One I tried had a bridge that was way off center too, the G string were falling of the board. Crap strings, way too high nuts as well. Along with the headphone jack, that fits a mini-plug they do feature a standard 1/4 inch jack...I would not waste one RMB, dollar or dime on one of these.

I've always wanted some form of EUB, but that thing looks like junk IMO. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a free lunch. I just haven't seen any EUB that I would play that was under $1000, and even at $1000, I think you'd be making some concessions about build quality. It's too bad, too, because I think many more bass players would take the plunge into the world of DB if there was an affordable and space-saving way to do it. But every "affordable" (to me) upright I've seen has been junk. So I guess I'll have to make do with my Fenders and Stingrays.... ;)

Thanks for the responses guys. I've been planning on an Ergo or a BSX and just stumbled across these and thought I would ask.

I agree I wish there was a lower price point on EUBs and alot of instruments in general. I think price is a major deterent for people and the inexpensive stuff is usually junk.
