It's really hard to find a great teacher, especially in rock instruments.

I'm looking for a mentor, any of these guys have that kind of an approach?

Mike Lent is bassist and Musical Director (I think I got that right) for Jann Arden. That guy can play anything! John Taylor is assistant principal bass in the symphony, and a fantastic jazz bassist as well. If I were you, I would call GMCC, and then if you can't study with either of these guys, see who they recommend.

When I lived there, Cliff Minchau was also one of the great local bassists, and you could look up Paul Shehadah if he is still around. Kim Leseca is great too.
