Traynor TC412 Speaker Rattle.

Just heard back from Traynor. They suggested a recone or replacement. They no longer make the drivers and mentioned people preferred 10's or 15's so they only did a short run of the 412.

They also confirmed 16 ohm drivers.

So far the only thing I'm seeing in 16ohm is:

Eminence Delta-12B​

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hello Everyone,

I recently picked up a TC412 to pair with my YBA100. It was about a 2 hour round trip but the price was right so I went for it. I confirmed with the owner that everyhting was good and he said yes, no issues with the drivers, nothing is blown. He did have it paired with an RB1001, which I believe is 700 watts @ 4 ohm, the cab is 1200 program, so it should have been a decent pairing unless he was really pushing it.

The top two speakers are making a buzzing noise.



*Easier to hear on a phone speaker, or something with lots of top end. In the video it's a bit buried, but in the room it's very noticeable.

I immediately thought it was the grill, as all of my old Traynor cabs required the grill to be tightened down, but even with the grill off, the buzzing is there.

I stuck my arm in the port and found everything is connected, and nothing is rubbing (wire wise). Moving the wires around while playing seems to produce various levels of this rattle so I thought at first it might be the speaker wires rattling against the back of the driver. I popped the off the back panel and none of the wires were touching the driver. I even Velcro strapped the excess length to make sure it wasn't contacting anything but buzzing remains.

If I lightly rest my hand on the speaker surround, the buzzing stops. It also only occurs with lower notes.

I checked with a few more experienced friends and they all suspect speaker damage. Wondering if anyone might have any thoughts on this.

The seller is very nice, older fellow. I think a return/refund is out of the question, but he does want me to keep him updated on the situation.

Don’t overtighten though, that results in even bigger issues.

I've only skimmed this topic; have you posted the following yet?

- cab internal volume
- port count
- port shape
- port dimensions (internal diameter and length for round; height and width and depth for slot)

In other words, approach the problem this way: You've just bought an empty cab and you want to find the best (or least-suboptimal) drivers for it, with a view toward affordability. What you should not do is choose affordability over all else, because then there's a chance you'll wind up with a boom box and/or a cab that doesn't have much in the way of mechanical (i.e. Xmax) power handling at the low end.

Something else: I don't see any lining inside that cab, but maybe it's in a location the camera lens didn't capture. Or maybe I missed that info in a previous post (sorry if I did).

Finally, that 12B's huge mid peak alone would be an instant No Sale for me.

There is foam padding stapled to the back of the cabinet all the way from the top to the bottom.

I have gone through with a screwdriver to make sure everything was snugged up. Nothing was loose.

Honestly, I think I'm just going to post it for what I paid explaining the situation and take the best offer I get. I really can't be bothered by any of this. Plus every time I look at the cab I'll just be angry.

I emailed the seller. Explained his situation, will be curious to see if he responds back. Maybe offers a bit of a discount I don't know. We'll see.

I’m surprised they just gave you that considering if it’ll work WELL in the box

But I’ll check the l&M website after work and I’ll see if. I find it
