Anyone into cycling?

I have been into one form of cycling or another throughout my life, BMX, Freestyle, road cycling, mountain biking....
Just got myself (and my wife as well...!) a "gravel-grinder"

Well, I'm (potentially) about to start a job that is presently 2.0 miles from home (one way). Assuming it actually pans out, I'll be biking to and from work every day. Eventually, it could extend up to about a 16 mile (one way) trip, which I'm not sure is really feasible on bike, though I may still try to do it at least once a week.
My main motivation is to get some amount of exercise on that short ride to/from work. It won't be a lot, but it'll be more than I've been getting lately!

I've been commuting to work on bike for a couple of years now. The first couple of years I only did 7.5 miles each way but I changed jobs last year so now my commute is 13.5 miles each way or a marathon a day.

I wish I could cycle to work....it would be kinda hard pulling 5000 lbs worth of tools and maybe 5 miles one day andaybe 50 miles the next...I'd be in awesome shape, though..

Nice! One of these days I'm going to get myself a 'cross bike. The roads here are crappy enough that one might need one for road riding.

I'm a mountain biker. The gnarlier the trail, the more I like it. Luckily we have lots of that up there.

I've been into cycling for most of my life, though I'm not a competitive rider. I commuted by bike throughout college and grad school, and have been riding to my present job for well over a decade. This is the first year that I got through an entire winter.

My work bike is a 1982 Schwinn, that I converted into a three-speed.

Here's my mean road machine, probably with about 10k miles since I threw it together, though it's had some parts replaced over the years.

I have 3 bikes, one in front of my house. Another as reserve or for visitors, stored nearby.
And one that I use when I'm on my regular out of town visits.
It's stored in a shed near the train station.

My town bike, with SRAM Spectro S7 gears.

Country bike with Shimano Nexus 7 Gears. (Originally it had Sturmey Archer 3 + drum brake)

And a spare high Nelly, sort of a sister of the one above it.


All of them are restored bikes, more or less made from salvaged parts.

I guess I should mention that my wife and I also have a pair of cruisers, with a 7-speed rear cassette....bit of a modern twist to an old classic. The extra gearing really helps as we live in a hilly area...it means the difference between pedaling up or walking up a hill

I also bought some color-matched fenders for them from
Amazon. The wife's bikE looks spectacular with turquoise/minty-green fenders. That bike rides like a chopper!

Age-wise...before the time of full monocoque carbon frames...beautiful bike.

A guy I used to work with apparently built his own frame from titanium....haven't seen it though, but the guy is a frickin genius....I will forever wonder why he didn't work for NASA...

Very frequently will I ride 15-20 miles at a time on the cruiser...can just ride those forever.

I originally wanted to get a Roubaix sport, but over time my needs shifted to more towards a CX style bike, but not with a "race profile"....I want to do Centuries...hence my decision for the bikes in my first post. I don't ride fast either, I ride long.

...And now for something completely different, this is my ride. Just installed a direct mount chainring. 32t and mounts on the splines where the spider would normally go. Tubeless conversion up next!

I have been a cyclist since 1988. My boy is turning out to be a bit of one as well.

I have a whole bunch of bikes and frames and whatnot. My two faves are my Bridgestone RB1 form 1990, with Mavic components on it (al la Greg LeMonds 89 TdF bike), and my Landshark - a custom job I got in '99, also Mavic equipped.

Instead I use 24" presta and put the sealant before hooking it up.

Been using that tip for the last 7-8 years , haven't got a flat since.
