Whats better? Agithius or Poplar?

here put it this way...are the 1994 FENDER MIM's better than nowaday squiers. hopefully the answers YES...?

Better for what?

All things being equal, I prefer my P basses to be Alder, but I wouldn't be losing any sleep over Agathis or Poplar.

The new Squier Classic Vibe is probably a better bass IMO. They are VERY nice basses at VERY reasonable money.

i think you paid too much, i paid 300 out the door last november on a 2008 MIM P at GC brand new. and you still can get a used newer one for under 250 on CL, and a MIA for about 700.

i have always said...." a mexican fender bass or guitar just needs a little love to make 'em right". i own a 1994 mex p-bass. i bought it on ebay for $ 77.00 ( amazing huh>). when i got it, it was typical mexican guitar. i set it up, gave it a little love ( the neck was REALLY bad)...and altho the pick ups arent as hot or as tasty as my other p-basses...its not too bad. it in no way compares to the p-bass that i built myself from parts that i got on ebay ( it has american pick ups and a ALL-PARTS neck). the sad thing about fenders made today,,,,is,,,,no matter where they are made they're all getting to be about the same quality.
