I have a problem manifesting itself in the form of a ply 1/2 size (formerly my brother's) that doesn't quite cut it anymore. I have an offer to trade up to a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], but I'll have to buy it sight unseen (a bit of a scary prospect).
I (or, I should say, my family members) have bought a violin and viola from West Coast Strings and they're both fantastic, but I'm a little concerned about purchasing their elephantine cousin, especially without being able to look at it.
Problem is, the local guy here has a tendency to rip people the hell off (thank god I did my homework on that viola...), so I'm even more afraid of working with him.
Anyone have any experience with these basses, or just general advice on this sort of purchase?
