I'm looking into getting an upright, and eventually I want to get a pickup for it, so I'm doing some research now. This seems to be what I'm looking for, but does anyone have any actual experience with it?

I've got this setup (actually two of 'em, on two basses). They are great if you need a really loud signal, with an aggressive slap sound. Not as natural sounding as most pickup systems, but can get real loud, and allows you to dial in the amount of slap tone.

The people that don't like 'em is usually because they don't like the tonal coloration of the preamp.

I'm probably gonna leave the pickups on both these basses, but come up with a different way to mix them, other than that K&K pre. Although I REALLY REALLY like have a volume control ON the bass.
