It looks really nice, and I've always told myself that if I ever was to get a 6 string it would have to be made by Fender, and well here it is. Anyone played it? Is it pretty nice? Worth $2500?

any reason why itd have to be a fender? you probably just liek them lots i guess.
If it were me, i woulnt pay that much for a 6'er. i havnt played one so i dont know how well it plays. but what ever floats your boat. try er out if you get the chance

I'd really like to have one, I think the idea of a six-string Jazz bass from Fender was way overdue. If you love the jazz bass tone (I do) and want it in a 6, this would seem to be the holy grail. They need to come down on that price though, IMO. $1500 would seem more of a fair price to me, they would sell a lot more of them.

- Full disclosure, I'm a certified Fender technician working in a music store that carries Fender, Yamaha, and Ibanez products among others.
I played one at NAMM. I don't like Fender active basses, in fact there's only a few Fender basses that really impress me. The Steve Bailey's one of them.
It played wonderfully, had none of the harshness or artificial brightness I associate with Fender active basses, felt fantastic...I could go one.
But worth $2500? I don't know about that part. I could find a lot of basses, uncluding used custom and boutique instruments, that I could gush over for that kind of dough. But, it's a fretless Fender six, and they did an excellent job in every respect, IMO.

I've got one. It's a pretty nice bass. Had to shim the neck in order to get low action, but apart from that I'm fairly satisfied. Is it really worth the price? It seemed like the nicest production fretless 6, so that's why I bought it, but I guess you could have a custom bass built to your taste for that price.
I've been eager to try one out, but I haven't even seen one in a store. I started playing 6 about 17 years ago, and I was always wondering why Fender had not done a real 6 string. It's discouraging to me that it took a signature model for them to do this. And at a price tag of $2500?!?!
I think if you're really interested in trying out a fretless 6, look for one of the Aria Pro Steve Bailey signature models. You can probably get it for quite a bit less than this Fender. Or maybe even one of the Heartfield DR6's.
