Anyone played a Danelectro 56 Cutaway bass?

I really love the look of the danelectro 56 cutaway bass with the dolphin head. I live in derby, uk and will have to travel to london just to try one out.

If anyone has played this bass then i would love to hear some reviews, whats the neck feel like? and whther it would sound good in drop D? etc.

I used to have a 60's vintage Silvertone exactly at you described. I would define it as a cool colectable but not an everyday player. I would play mine out every once in a while just for fun. I had to constantly retune. My recommendation would be to buy it only if you already have a main base and just want something for fun. Good luck!

yea the the tuners do suck. change them out. then no problems

To compare it to standards, how does it compare to a fender P-bass? thinner or thicker neck? Not really too sure what you mean by wrong angle.

I have a '61 Dolphin nose with the skate tuners. No issues here with it staying in tune. I like the way it sounds, the vibe it emits and totally beat to hell look!
