Late 70's, early 80's. D'Addarrio XL Reds. Copper coated. Can't believe I still have them. Would likely be expensive to make these days with the price of copper.

50 copper pennies ($0.50) have roughly $1.34 worth of copper in them based on today's copper prices.

40 nickels ($2.00) have roughly $2.45 worth of nickel in them based on today's nickel prices... A couple of months ago, each nickel was worth about $0.08, that means 40 of them WAS worth $3.20.

So save those pennies, Every time you use one, you really are using $0.03!!

I have a set of red strings that came on a squire 5 string I purchased. Maybe these are those kind of strings. Always wanted to identify them. I thought of changing them till I installed a pair of big singles in that bass.
