Anyone Run Bass Through A Marshall 4x12?

'60s Marshall cabs could handle it. Some had actual bass specific drivers.
New ones are very guitar specific. Tried a Marshall cab recently the HW for about 2 min in my studio. Returned! Just not a bass cab anymore.

Anyone Run Bass Through A Marshall 4x12? - back in the day that was the ONLY cab to run Bass through - preferably 2 of them - the angled front one went on top of the flat front one and the 100w Marshall amp went on top of the angled cab.

Only then were you ready to rock!!.

Phrases like - gve me a Jazz bass and a Marshall stack, then let me die like a man!! - come to mind.

You've made a happy man feel very old .

Also back then an Ampeg SVT and the Acoustic 360 wrer good amp choices ... and Sunn made some good stuff.

Marshall also made a 4x15 cabinet as did Sunn.

Absolutely!!! He managed to get a great sound. Me thinks John Wetton used Marshall stuff too....I know he did when I saw U.K. about a thousand years ago.

You remember right, and for those who doubt this listen to the live 'Wheels of Fire'. Jack wasn't using a fuzz box to get that distortion.
The Marshall Stack was invented to allow bass players to compete with Vox AC30s and Fender Twins. That notion lasted perhaps two weeks, probably less, until the first guitar'd player plugged into one.

I plugged my Ric into my guitards JCM 800 Half, excellent Lemmy Tone, just roll off the bass, I didn't push it, but it was pretty darn sweet..

I'm running my Marshall VBA 400 through a 4x12 cab.

WOW!! Superb, as it is sealed. Tight lows, punchy mids and crunchy highs.

Recommended. My Ricky bass loves it!!!

i record with a split to a 2x12 guitar amp. no harm done. i use it for mid and highs.

might want to run that 4x12 with a proper bass cab though if you want sufficient lows
