anyone seen these boutique jazzes from japan?

Is it just me or....don't most of these Japanese basses seem to be custom versions of vintage basses? I'm sure they're nice, but there are plenty of American builders who have been doing the same designs for years.

At one point you could get the American custom quality at a great price with the Japanese offerings. Now they are as much or more than the American customs

Hmmm, not so sure that I'd be coughing up almost $2500-$3000 without having some serious review info on those basses. It doesn't seem like the US would be a great market for another "not cheap" fender-esque bass, especially when you consider the amazing quality of the Valenti's, Lull's, Lakland's etc. for about the same (or less) coin ...:hmm:

OTOH, they could be amazing .... As far as the Fodera pre is concerned, I don't know what's up with that. I'm not tuned into the Fodera market at all .....
