Anyone still gig with a 1x15 anymore?

I used twin eleminator I bass reflex cabnets (from a blown up PA) with A 15' JBL in each cabnet. Blew one of the speakes years back. Dont gig anymore so I tried some other rigs but just cant stop lovin the bass reflex 15 cabnet. Happy I dont have to carry it aroud anymore though

Everyone will always justify his/her own great taste and judgment. :smug:

I haven't had one of these cabs in 15 years, but I've tried numerous cabs in the meantime, and they're still the best IMHO. I just didn't want to keep humping 84 pounds x2 up and down my porch.

To each his zone, y'know. I will not criticize what you drink or what you play.

I used to have a Mesa Boogie Road Ready 1x15 loaded with a 400 watt EV Proline 15L and it was the standard by which all 1x15s should be judged ... IMHO, of course! What a cinder block of a cab, though. Had to let it go as I got into my 50's and my body became increasingly decrepit. My Bag End S15-D is a remarkable cab for what it is, but I do miss the uber thump of that badass Mesa 1x15.

i could probably deal with the 115 with my current projects, however it is so much easier to hear myself with two, after all i'm 6'5 before boots or platform shoes

I have used 2X15s 15 years ago. Now I stack my 115 on top of my 410 cab. I have a 250 watt W/ good EQ , when its all set right the 15" cab is something to behold. Les Claypool of Primus uses 4X 15" speakers on some of their Gigs. It gives the deep rumble tones that the 410s do not do so well. 2 Aluminum cone 15" cabs will give you the sound of the space shuttle booster rockets on takeoff. Another way to look at it is if you slap bass, Your thumb punches the 15" speaker into action while the pull ups are heard through the 410 cab. That combination of cabs is a practical one, it gives you a wider tonal range. Like I mentioned earlier, the EQ settings are going to make this combination work nice. Even if you do not have EQ , you are going to like what you hear. 2x410 500 watt cabs and 2x 115 500 watt cabs through 2x 1000 watt amps w/ signal splitter, will be your ultimate thrill of a lifetime." good god almighty! for sheer vintage tone that may be the best bass rig ever made right there. it is certainly the best sounding bass rig Fender has ever made. big words, but those who know, like neil young, know....

Nope, it's a sealed custom cab made by a cabinetmaker friend of mine who also builds mahogany racing hydroplanes.

It's modeled after a Showman 12 tone ring cab size-wise except that is and is 15" deep instead of 11.5" and has a 400W E-V 15" that has been converted to 4 ohms.

I have a Dual Showman cab with a pair of the same E-V's for big venues but the single 15 one works great in most places and the bigger rooms have FOH anyway.

no problem, i only speak the truth! my good friend has two 4ohm blondies with two matching double 15 cabs, one with D140's and one with K140's. those and his two sunn 2000/jbl rigs are his favorites out of a huge (HUGE) stable of all tube bass rigs. he also owns six blackface showmen/dual showmen. bigger/louder amps than those? sure, but for sheer "omg it's Alive" bass tone it's very hard to beat either one of them, even to this day.
