I see a lot of people have them in their cases in the "for sale" section, but i never tried them. Any good?

Anyone try Elixir Bass Strings?

They feel amazing and don't rough up your fingers as much, but some people complain about the tone vs. the price, but those people seem to always recommend really bright sounding strings and these are not bright sounding at all. The plastic coating that gives them that feel eventually starts to flake off, but what do you expect? and they still sound and play fine after that point, just not as good as when you bought em.
I just bought an Ibanez bass with active electronics, used. It sounded really good when I bought it, but I put new elixirs on it last night, it REALLY came to life. I'm a customer!
I play Elyxirs on my p-bass. I'm not blown away with how they sound but they last forever.
40 bucks a pack sounds like a lot, but considering they last 4 times longer than average strings, they're actually about as cheap of strings as you can buy.

I recently put a set on and I am very impressed. Very vibrant. I would recommend giving them a try considering the company claims the strings last three times longer than regular brands.
I'm an Elixir endorsee and I can't play another set. I have acidic hands, so normal strings last me one or two gigs tops. With Elixirs, I go months without changing strings.
They are a bit darker and less brilliant then other nickel, and more yet with steels. However, I think they have a great tone and I absolutely love the feel of them. They work great!

I have them on every bass except one. Easy on the fingers,sound like a broken in set of roundwounds,and stay that way for a long time. I love them!
What's going on here?
Some people are saying that they're "vibrant" which I interpret as bright sounding while others are saying they sound like broken in roundwounds which I interpret as not bright sounding.
I guess threads like this really aren't a good way to determine whether or not to try a particular string.

Kinda pricey but i love them. I think they sound bright... and stay that way forever(well maybe like 4 months if you play regularly)
What it means is,they don't have that new roundwound zing,but more like a set that have a few hours time on them. And they stay that way for a long time.
my btb came with a set of elixirs and I still have them on. they have what i would call a "piano" sounding tone to them but can also produce a nice growl with a little tone fiddling...im not 100% convinced that I love them yet but they do seem to be keeping their sound longer than the daddario xl's i usually play...the jury is still out for me but try...if u like buy 
I had a set around as a back up that someone gave me. I had to use them because the set of DR's that I normally use only had 3 strings in it. :scowl: They are really bright, which isn't really what i'm into on my Tobias, but they do sound pretty good.
Don't get me wrong I think Elixers sound great I continue to use them, but they aren't as bright as say Ernie Balls (I personally don't want my bass to sound that tinny)
...then again the bass I have them on has never known anything but elixer nanoweb strings, so I shouldn't really jump to any conclusions, about the strings since for all I know its more my bass than anything else.

they came on my Schecter. They arent super bright or the best tone, but they do last. I gigged and practiced with that bass for 1 year straight. Havent used in 6 months now, but they are still good!
