Anyone use a Red Sub BP80?

Hey

Looking around for a new amp, currently only have a 35w Gear 4 Music basic, need to upgrade for small gigs.

Saw the Red Sub BP80, seemed to fit the bill, decent output, not too heavy and good price (I don't want to spend more than £150).

Just wondered if anyone uses one, what's the sound like, portability, any problems/should I go for something else?

I've got one and have just started gigging with it. I'm so impressed for £130. The tone is nice and punchy with lots of bottom end and nice (not harsh) higher tones too. The electronics give a lot of control over the sound for such a reasonably priced amp. I thought the chorus was a little gimmicky at first but it does add a little colour if used sparingly. Things I didn't like were the awful chrome knobs so replaced them with some nice Fender style red knobs for less than a tenner. Great improvement. It feels well made and looks fine. No rattles or vibration and the tilt back is useful.

Don't expect it to put out at full volumes without breaking up a little but it projects well so small gigs and rehearsals are no problem. As said, I'm so impressed for the money it's a 'no brainer'.

That might be the most '90s amp I've ever seen, makes me think of those obscure "the animal" amps that they made.

I use a RedSub BP80 for stage monitor use only, its a great little amp for that.
I D.I. my bass to FOH PA let the PA bass bins fill the room and use the RedSub as a monitor so I can hear what I am playing on stage.
I play pubs & clubs so its ideal for that.
