BTW do you guys use any device for switching the phase? SL-2 doesn't have that function, it would come in handy sometimes.

I use the Clarus SL-2 with a Troll. Clarus doesn't work with the FEThead for some reason, but you won't really even need it with the SL-2.
Well, shoot. It appears you’re right. Waitimg for confirmation from Triton. But it appears XLR/TRS cables are not phantom power friendly. 1/4” plug is not built for it - or so it seems. If this correct then it surprises me how many people on the retail side of the fence recommended using the FH with the Clarus SL-2 - an amp sans XLR inputs. Perhaps I’m still missing something here.
Wrote to Triton. No response. The mic pre alternative was noisy. So I sent the FH back for refund. The Troll Clarus SL-2 combo is performing well without the FEThead. But I continue to wonder why the FH functions via XLR/XLR with a mic pre but does not with XLR/TRS cables on this amp. Perhaps the Clarus (10ma) is not providing enough current to power the FH adequately. This is what Rick Jones (AI) suggested.
I think there is a norm about phantom power including specs for current.
Theoretically phantom power can work with TRS-connectors, but maybe plugging in and out can short circuit the power (which as far as I remember) should not be a problem due to the typical schematic.
But a TS plug in a phantom powered TRS jack does short circuit the phantom power. Maybe that is the reason why TRS jacks with phantom power are hard to find at all.
I have a small digital mixer from KORG with eight inputs. Two mic-level XLR with phantom power, two mic-level TRS without phantom power and four line-level (mic-level?) T(R?)S, of course without phantom power.

There is not much what can happen unless the ground is connected wrong on the XLR side (I doubt there is that kind of error on the TRS side unless the maker is really dumb).Received email from Erwin at Triton today. He’s checking to see if Clarus and FEThead share share common phantom cable wiring scheme. And, yes, an XLR TRS cable does pass phantom power from the Clarus SL-2 to a condenser mic. My Line Audio CM3 works fine with Clarus. It follows, I have a growing suspicion that the FEThead and Clarus address the XLR TRS cable differently. I’ll find out soon.

Exchanging hot and inverted doesn‘t influence phantom power, it only gives an inverted phase signal.
A lower voltage phantom power can make problems but if the voltage and current are inside the phantom power specs there should not be a problem.
All if there is not a mistake inside the amp swapping ground and one of the signal lines. (But I doubt that happens with TRS jack.)
If the phantom power (+48 volts) goes on hot (+) AND inverted (-) then it is OK.Voltage and Current are in agreement.
