Anyone Using Only Micros Now?

How many watts is this bad boy?
Surprisingly few by "modern macho" bass amp standards. As the combo is set up it's maybe 300 into 8ohm and possibly 600 when driving a 4 ohm cab? I'd have to check the specs again to be sure but it's something very close to that. It's nice to add a 4x10 or a 1x15 cab to it but not usually necessary even for ridiculously large stages and outdoor gigs. My hardcore Ampeg bass friends love it too. Full combo weighs under 40lbs/18kg.

I've had lots of big rigs over the years. Ranging from Acoustic 360 to SVT to a pair of custom made 2x15 cabs. Some time in the mid 90's I switched to Peavy 210 then to Epifani UL210... Many different heads over the years. I now own a RevSound RS210, a RS120T and a G Benz 900. I also own a 1980 Woods that I am the original owner off. I'm afraid to gig that out any more tho.

I'm wicked happy with the current rig. I regularly play 250-300 seat venues with 1 or both cabs with a wide variety of bands. Very rarely do I wish I could push more air. And I'm REALLY happy to loadin/out in one trip with my collapsible hand truck. I wish I'd had this rig when I was playing every other nite in NYC in the early 80's.

sweet. I am still old school, but I am getting retrained :)

I try not to spend too much money on things that's don't make that much difference in my life. Since most of the gigs I play have a PA and the bass rig is really just a monitor, I'm happy with a used LMII and a used LDS 15/6. It actually has good full range volume for when I do need to match with the dual guitars. If I had the money, would I have another rig for gigs where load-in wasn't too bad? Maybe. But I've borrowed enough amps and cabs at shows to know that it makes pretty much no difference to me on stage as long as I can hear myself. I try to get all of my tone from the bass and pedals so I know that what's going to the house is good and then just enjoy myself onstage.

Since the thread seems to have a focus on micro heads in general I believe the one included in my combo would be the equivalent of the Markbass LMIII

But if you're interested in the full combo that I have don't mistake the CMD 121H ( mine ) for the smaller and more compact CMD 121P. I've tried both in a live/full band setting and the CMD 121H has MUCH more native "beef" ( or "oomph" ). If you know what I'm trying to say. :bassist:

I am old. I will never own a lead sled again. My entire rig (bass and all) weighs like 50#'s tops. EBMM Sterling 5, Mesa D800, (2) Barefaced One10's, gig bags, cords, strap. 800 watts into two 110's that sound like a 410 or even 610. Life is Good.

Aesthetically that head is damn near perfect for those cabs. They look like they were made for each other.

Bet it sounds good too. :)

I went from a Phil Jones M-500 head with 8-T & 16-B cabs...

To an SWR Headlite head & two Hartke Hydrive 112 cabs.

I listed the very fairly priced Phil Jones monster on Denver's CL a few weeks ago - no bites so far....
I love the Phil Jones rig, but it is such a beast to schlep around compared to the SWR/Hartke class-D/Neo-cab rig.
After hundreds of gigs over the past 30 years, I've had enough of hauling refrigerator-sized rigs in & out of clubs.

All micro/neo and very pleased with the results. You do have to do some hunting, but the tone you want is out there for you.

Entire rig with both cabinets weighs 20 pounds less than one of the cabs from my last rig. Simply amazing.

I pretty much have used only my GK MBF500 since they came out...5 years ago?
I have an MBF800 I use too; when I use a fEARful 15/6/1 because it's 8 ohms, and more clean headroom that way.

I've had some other stuff, the Mesa D800 being one...great head, didn't beat the MBF series for what I like.

I still have a GK 1001RBII and a Fusion 550, but, man, the MBF stuff is just so much easier to grab and go and it gives up nothing, in my opinion....

cabs:
all my stuff is small and light.
GK Neos, Baer Neos, fF neos. I'll never carry heavy unwieldy cabs again, there's just no need for that either.
