Double Bass Anzellotti Bass Capo Review

So, I was having some trouble with one of my old Anzellotti bass capos, and it was not pretty. It had turned out it was an older capo that was pretty badly mangled up, so I contacted Rob (@robobass). After a little back and forth we figured out a custom capo that would be a bit simpler in parts, only because of the location while I am up at school (not too many luthiers around Potsdam NY). In 2 weeks (to the day) the part arrived from Germany, but it just was a tad short. I told Rob, and he got one in the mail ASAP, a little over a week later and it was here, I put it on, tightened everything on and it was absolutely perfect.

Rob worked very hard and I got exactly what I wanted, I couldn't ask for anything better! Rob both me and my bass thank you for your hard work and craftsmanship. I not only highly recommend Rob's product, but I wholeheartedly endorse it. The prices and craftsmanship are unbeatable, and the design is sleek and subtle.

I can't wait to install the other two gates on my extension, and you know I'll be contacting Rob about getting the capos!

The only thing Bastmastan did "custom" was to use a Capo finger instead of an E finger. They are interchangeable, but the standard E finger is held to the threaded stud with a nut (rather than permanently attached), making it a bit easier to install and adjust. It looks like the new finger is still a bit short, or maybe the string is deflecting too much when closing the finger. It seems to be working for him however. Getting the finger to push the string down and not to the side is of course a big challenge for any latch builder, and is affected by conditions like string height and fingerboard radius. Nic, If this proves to be a problem then just keep in contact with me and I'm sure we can work it out.
